Pyrosales is an Australian owned company which, for over 25 years, has developed an enviable reputation as a specialist manufacturer of standard and precision temperature measurement sensors and of instrumentation including orifice plate, venturi, averaging pitot tubes and level sensors and switches.
As Australia's longest established and largest manufacturer of thermocouples and resistance temperature sensors, Pyrosales has operations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and most recently, an office in Illinois US: Pyrosales Inc.
The company is a leading exporter of temperature sensors to Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, India, China, Belgium, Germany, Malaysia, Zambia, South Africa, Sri Lanka and South America.
Customised sensor control solutions
The Pyrosales team is intensely aware that few process monitoring requirements are completely alike. Which leads to the belief that there are few, if any, off-the-shelf solutions. Pyrosales engineering consultants therefore analyse each customer's process needs in order to design, custom engineer, manufacture and supply the exact sensor control solutions needed to effectively control their plant.
The company's emphasis on custom engineering individual solutions for specific challenges enables it to provide sensor solutions for an unlimited range of difficult applications — most above the capabilities of their competitors.
The Pyrosales team keeps in close contact with customers, being entirely customer focused and mindful of the need for on-time solution delivery in tandem with accurate and timely information. This ensures that all Pyrosales systems supplied are set up correctly and function as required, meeting immediate and long-term objectives. No Pyrosales job is considered complete until the installation runs as specified and full documentation is supplied.
The company prides itself on the preparation, collection, quality and presentation of all support material, in order to ensure customers benefit fully and cost-effectively from the sensor solutions supplied.
Meeting major international quality standards
Pyrosales maintains an approved quality management system to ISO9001-2008. It has expertise in running major projects where there are stringent quality requirements. Thoroughly detailed procedures ensure that the quality of the solutions and products offered are second to none.
For standard products that fit their normal product detail, Pyrosales has individual technical specification sheets plus data sheets detailing the breakdown of our part numbers for accurate specification and ordering. These are available in hard copy or in PDF format on CD and through the company's website at www.pyrosales.com.au.
For custom manufactured products, drawings will be produced to ensure that customer specifications are correctly interpreted. Such high-level expertise and capability enable Pyrosales to meet the complex, often unique needs of some of the world's leading companies in industries as diverse as glass, iron and steel, petrochemical, aluminium, copper, lead, zinc, power generation, food, plastics, aerospace, furnace and building fire safety.
Temperature measurement sensor
Pyrosales has been the major supplier to many large organisations and has held a number of period contracts, including:
- BHP Port Kembla (now Bluescope Steel): Pyrosales was awarded the main supply contract in the early 90s. This was held for over ten years, when parts of the contract were split and issued to the main electrical contract
- Mount Isa Mines (now Xstrata Copper): Pyrosales has held the Thermocouple supply contract with Xstrata Copper since 1991
- Boyne Smelters (part of the Rio Tinto Group): Pyrosales has been a major supplier to Boyne Smelters for many years. In 2001 all temperature contracts and supply items were combined into a single contract which Pyrosales was successful in securing
- Portland Aluminium (part of the Alcoa Group): Pyrosales was awarded the contract to supply the carbon bake area with temperature sensors in 1996. In conjunction with Portland engineers, the company was involved in developing the detailed specifications for the temperature sensors. This contract was held until the National Contract was awarded in 2000
Pyrosales continues to go from strength to strength, having spectacularly overcome a recent difficult patch to win Australia's prestigious Business of the Year Award (2009) — a fine way to celebrate its 35th Anniversary. This is due to the vision of CEO, John Shanahan who, despite the global financial crisis, ushered in a new era of success which included a strong emphasis on export markets.
